Letter from February 5, 2005

Just ran across this letter and wanted to share:

                   John Chamis City of Herculaneum
                                Candidate for Mayor

My name is John Chamis and I am a Candidate for Mayor of Herculaneum. I am currently serving my 2nd Mayoral term.

I have always been active in serving my community. I have the experience and dedication to devote this elected post. Serving this community is a vital part of my life.

When we moved to Herculaneum I became an active Volunteer for the Herculaneum Fire Department. In addition to my service I have been involved in many County wide projects including the Jeff Co Fire Engine Rally and the State Fire Fighters Convention. I have attended many classes at the fire service at both the County and State levels. My interest to the Comunity has led me to become a Board Member of the following organizations: The Quad City Community Corporation, Voices for Progress, Jefferson County Economic Development Corp., Tri City Fireworks Extravaganza and the Herculanaeum Historical Society while I continue my post at the Fire Department and my elected position as proud Mayor of this City.

In the past few years we have acquired the Sewer District which will enable us to put sewers in for the Residents who have been without for many years. This project should start this year.

We also co-partnered with the City of Festus to build a new water treatment plant.

We are also in the process of building a new water treatment plant, which will help with the growth of our city.

We have annexed into the City about 500 acres which will allow the building  of 1200 new homes.

In the past few years we are acquiring many new businesses such as Dairy Queen, Cracker Barrell, C.F.M., Jack in the Box, Twin City Toyota and many more.

If you have any comments, questions, suggestions or concerns please feel free to contact me anytime at xxx-xxxx.

I would appreciate your vote on April 5, 2005.

                                                             Sincerely,

 "Watch Us Grow"                                 John Chamis

John did win this election and went into his 3rd term as Mayor of Herculaneum!
